We’re going to summer camp
It wouldn’t be summer in Michigan without a blissful weekend on the lake, and we wanted to share this time-honored tradition with you.
We’ve rented an entire historic summer camp to provide our guests with a fully immersive, low-cost getaway which will allow us to spend as much time together as possible.
Semi-rustic cabin accommodations will be available from Friday, August 22nd through Monday, August 25th for those who would like to stay on-site for the full experience.
Reservations, RSVPs, and detailed information to follow with forthcoming invitation.
The Venue
Long Lake Outdoor Center is a tranquil, old-fashioned summer camp that has been in continuous operation since it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936.
Arriving to the grounds of LLOC — which is surrounded by of 5,200 acres of protected state land — feels like stepping back in time. Nestled under a cover of old growth pines along a secluded, undeveloped lake, visitors can enjoy untouched beauty reminiscent of Michigan’s remote Upper Peninsula, all while being minutes away from modern conveniences, and a short cab ride from an international airport.
Accommodations
Guests are invited to stay for the duration of the weekend in one of LLOC’s many cabins and bunkhouses, providing easy access to the lake, hiking trails, bonfire pits, all meals and activities organized by Camp Luscombe-Thompson and proximity to other guests.
Cabins and group bunkhouses are comfortable but semi-rustic, with electricity, screened windows, and twin XL bunkbeds and mattresses in each cabin. The nearby bathhouse offers modern showers, toilets, and hot water.
Our camp reservation includes full access to the entire property. While limited in capacity, we expect that there will be enough space for most guests who wish to stay on-site, without having to ask anyone to room with strangers (we would not do that).
There will be no nightly booking cost, but we will ask for a (minimal) flat rate Linens & Lodging contribution from each person staying overnight at camp, so that we will be able to provide bedding, linens and a few basic necessities.
Reservation information and more details will be available soon.

Travel Information
The Location
Long Lake Outdoor Center is located at 10370 Gun Lake Road, Middleville, Michigan.
It is part of Yankee Springs Recreation Area.
Getting There
The camp is located about 2.5 hours from Detroit, and about 30 minutes from Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Those flying into Grand Rapids can take a cab or rent a car.
Alternate Lodgings
Prefer your creature comforts? We understand. There are hotel options within 15-20 minutes of camp, including Best Western and Holiday Inn. Nearby Gun Lake is a popular tourist destination, so there are many AirBnB & vacation rentals in the region.

We could not be more excited to spend a weekend with our closest friends and family, celebrating the beauty of queer love, identity, connection, and community.
Thank you in advance for your love and support in creating a joyous & affirming space, especially during these divisive times.
